Shaping Glass into Grace & Beauty

Glass is a universal media and glass blowing is an age-old craft. People have used glass for everything from decoration to storage for literally thousands of years. Glass has been used by almost every culture on earth. Just as each culture is unique, each region and culture places their own unique touch to make it their own. Practical use drives how our vessels are shaped and how they open and close. American MemoryCraft’s artists apply their talent and skill to attain a perfect balance of beauty and functionality in the vessels they create. While practical functionality is critical in terms of volume, ease of use, and capacity, we know that our vessels will enhance their environments with graceful shapes & colors.

Color Palettes

American MemoryCraft colors are chosen to evoke a feeling. We design our palettes to be easy to look at while offering connection to colors important for the individual whom they will represent. Our color sets, or “palettes,” are combinations that blend together and accent each other harmoniously. While some are bold and are intended to make strong statements, our most popular palettes are often the subtle shadings found in nature, such as our Evening Palette or Autumn Palette.

Our full range of color palettes is shown in the gallery below. Click to enlarge and see the details of each palette as well as its name. Click “View More Options” to see catalog listings for all urn shapes and sizes available in that color palette and to get a feel for its variations in appearance.

Shapes & Colors – Full Size Urns

The shapes we choose are based on traditional forms that will be familiar to almost any eye. They often follow Mediterranean or Asian design. Classic shapes like ginger jars are so familiar that whether we call them cookie jars or urns, the shape is familiar and soothing. Mediterranean nuances are often seen in the neck and opening as well as the foot of the vessels. The more familiar the form, the more comforting and easy to look at.

The gallery below shows our selection of vessel shapes. We’ve shown them in the same color palette so you can compare the appearance of the different vessel forms. Exceptions are shapes that only come in other palettes. Click an image to view an enlargement so you can see the details and names of the urn styles. Notice how each shape affects the color palette differently. Click “View More Options” to see all the full size urns and color palettes available in that shape.

It’s important to remember that each American MemoryCraft vessel is hand crafted. Like any item that is not mass-produced, each urn has subtle differences in its shape and color. Therefore, each urn will be as uniquely individual as the beloved person whose ashes it will protect. The urn you receive will be similar to what you see on our website, but no two are alike and no color pattern can be reproduced exactly.
